When a client asks to add a service

A client may ask for an extra service during an appointment. You can respond warmly while making sure both people understand the time and price before deciding.
Pause and check the schedule
Ask whether there is enough time to do the extra work safely and well. Consider the next appointment, preparation and any consultation the service requires. If there is not enough time, offer another booking rather than squeezing in a service that may affect the client or the next person.
State the terms clearly
If the extra service is available, tell the client what it costs and how long it adds before you begin. For example: “I can add [service] today. It costs [price] and will take about [time]. Would you like me to add it?” Use accurate details from your current menu.
Do not assume the request is a test or that the client expects it for free. Let them decide once they know the terms. If you choose to offer a complimentary extra, make that choice explicit and avoid making the client guess whether it will appear on the bill.
Keep the record accurate
Update the appointment or payment record according to your process. If the service needs additional consent, preparation or information, complete that before starting. For regulated or health-related work, follow your professional requirements and do not add a service outside your scope.
Make future choices easier
If clients often request the same extra, consider adding it as a clear option in the service menu. Explain whether it must be booked in advance and how much time it needs.
A kind response does not require an unclear price. Specific information lets the client make a choice and helps the provider keep the appointment on schedule.
